Hi I’m Tom and this is my blog. SalmonGear will be an outlet for my constant fiddling with fishing gear to make it better. I will be looking at all kinds of gear that make my fishing trips more productive. I am always changing or altering gear in an attempt to make it better. I will cover how to rig, fish and alter all manner of items in the pursuit of our finned friends. I will cover what works and what does not work for me. I will be posting how to set up and what you need. I hope to test a lot of new or new to me gear. I will go over a lot of old stuff that many folks don’t know about. The odd fishing report will be thrown in every once in a while. I live in the Pacific Northwest and have a verity of choices of fish as long as they are salmon trout or steelhead. Most of my fishing is trolling or river fishing, mostly trolling. I also spent a lot of time crabbing or shrimping when the season is open. I would like to say that I halibut fish but I have only caught one myself and had one other in my boat that a buddy nailed. I will try to post often so please keep checking back, thank you.
